Cousins

I got to see my wonderful cousins on Saturday which was quite a nice surprise! I hardly ever get to see them anymore. But the truth is, we pretty much grew up together even if it was only when we saw each other at our grandmother's house or on the rare visit to one another's house. They lived 4 hours from us as kids and then when I was in high school they moved to Kentucky - 9 hours away! But since we're all about the same age, we've always been close and stayed close. Adriane and Monica were both in my wedding and when we see each other it's like we don't miss a beat even though we only see each other a few times a year. (They have a younger brother too - Phil - but I haven't seen him in almost 2 years! I think I'll see him at Christmas though!)

They were up visiting for a brief time on Saturday and we got to spend the evening with them. What a wonderful time! I haven't laughed that much in a while and Caroline and Bryce truly entertained everyone. The boys had gone to the MD football game so it was just the girls (and Bryce). We played vintage My Little Ponies with Caroline and some hide and seek too. Of course no cousin get together is complete without reminiscing about old times - and that is usually when we laugh the hardest.

I remember as a kid I always used to wish that I lived closer to them and I got my wish when I went to grad school in SW Ohio. I got to see them plenty more and then Adie (our nickname for Adriane) came to Miami my 2nd year so we got to be schoolmates for a while. I always get a little sad though b/c Caroline and Bryce won't have cousins that close in age.
